Best Option Available – Microsoft Business Software Review
Older versions are left high and dry once the subsequent version is released. This is bad customer care/support.
I haven’t tried most of the reporting pre-sets yet, so I can’t review those. We started using Quick Books Pro in the mid-90′s. Anyway, just got a message from tech support on the chat system, “It seems that there is some damaged (sic) with this account that is why you are not able to activate it. We need to create a new account and activate that account for the online services” Perhaps you’ll enjoy this: —- Support: In Quicken, we can transfer data from one account to another in the same data file. The program does not do anything new that I need or want. Actually, they have moved around some menus and options, which makes doing what I have always done more difficult.
I’m still spending but maybe not quite as much weaning myself from it so to speak. This software is worth every penny. In the end, I was able to do a clean install of Quicken 2011 on another computer, convert the file there, and then migrate it over to my primary computer. Since I have installed the program, I’ve found that several features I really liked, including single button action to reconcile an individual account or to download online transactions are now all hidden in a drop-down menu. I’ll be the first to admit that. But when my computer died and I needed to get into my personal Quicken files, I first attempted to read the old Quicken file with my QuickBooks software – why not just set it up as another file and avoid the cost of a new Quicken license” I only started using 2011 in December, but preloaded transactions back to 2009. After my most recent support call, support naturally wanted to start a new set of books – okay, I understand why for trouble shooting, but what I really need to do is fix the set of books I have HOURS invested in! You feel like you’ve been left high and dry after the purchase. Also, they don’t have a fair upgrade policy anymore. I don’t see anything new from the previous version. If I know that I have to pay $2700 this month for car repair (an unusual expense), and I enter it into the Planning section, the program does not recognize it and say “Hey, you don’t have enough.”
I quickly returned it for a refund after reviewing it. My main purpose was to obtain a P & L Statement and Balance Sheet at the end of the year. I like the software I have on my computer and hope that someday something changes at my bank so they will upgrade and I can automatically download my transactions. Then, I will have the full functionality of this accounting software.
There was also a weird step where it requested me to setup another password to my bank; of which it completely ignored for future logins, even when it came time to add the password to the password vault, and it still only accepted my old one. The one step update process is “missing’ certain transactions on download. This was recommended by my CPA. Good price and quick shipping equals a solid deal.
Again, this is very typical of Intuit and the support of their products. Even their own support site is quite useless.
It is a little hard to figure things out exactly – for that you’d probably need Peachtree accounting but who has the time to put all that data in there – not me. contemporary coffee tables.
